It’s Raining Trees, Toys and Snow…?
Oakley’s interplanetary headquarters in Foothill Ranch is drenched in sun the majority of the year; however, a storm moving through last Friday dumped some highly-pinpointed precipitation in the form of snow. The white stuff nestled itself flawlessly onto a slope, and not long after, employees were hurling their bodies down the hill on tubes and saucers. The freak snowfall set the scene for a celebration that created the idyllic culmination to our holiday toy drive and tree decorating contest.
Oakley is inherently competitive in everything we do, so we held a Yuletide Challenge to see which department could adorn their tree in the most attractive manner for the judges, and also swathe it with the most toys for needy children.
The judging committee meticulously scrutinized about twenty creatively decked out trees. There were Tron light cycles, Jersey Shore GTL, but nothing could beat the Rocket Ship complete with a Space Mountain-inspired backdrop. Yes, the Oakley HR Team will forever have their name emblazoned on the Yuletide Trophy for “Best Tree”, and must defend their title next year.
Oakley employees always deliver the goods for our annual toy drive, and departments furiously competed to collect the most toys. They did this while checking off the wish lists of needy children in partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots organization. This year, our Distribution Team won the competition for “Most Toys Collected” and helped Oakley put smiles on more than 600 young faces with the some pretty cool toys.
