Rollin’ O Bids Farewell to Rosenblatt
The South Carolina Gamecocks needed extra innings in the second game of a best of three series with the Bruins of UCLA to claim the College World Series title of 2010. For the Gamecocks, it was their first title in School history, but for Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha Nebraska, it would be the last.
The CWS first hit Rosenblatt in 1950 and has been the proving grounds for up and coming Major League superstars ever since. But next years CWS will have a whole new look and feel. A new stadium has erected just minutes from downtown Omaha and is being primed for the future of College Baseball.
The Rolling O Lab set up just outside the main entrance of the stadium for the second straight year. We teamed up again with local giant, Sheel’s sporting goods, to help orchestrate the sales side of the event. Hundreds of fans stepped out of the Lab and into the Oakley megastore to wear Oakley’s HDO for the game. For two weeks, the store and the Lab was jammed full of Baseball fans from all over, following their school with a little hometown pride.
Overall, the event was a huge success. The sales team crushed the numbers from the previous year and thanks to Gary Gant, several teams stopped by the lab to learn why so many ball players, at every level, wear Oakley and no other.
As we bid a final farewell to Rosenblatt Stadium and all the memories fade into one glorious sunset, the Rollin’ O Lab crew would like to give thanks to Jason Jones, Gary Gant, Frank Shaw, Chris, Lil’ E, Bobby, Ty, Trevor, and of course Lauren and her staff at Sheel’s for making it all happen so smooth. Until we meet again Omaha…
