O Lab at Prolog Tour de Suisse - Lugano
We hardly ever had a nicer view from our Rolling O position, only 50m from the beautiful “Lago di Lugano” and amidst a highly frequented entertainment village of the Tour de Suisse. Setting up our “Rosi” in the bright sunlight and being clearly visible as the most impressive booth of all, the entire O Lab crew was motivated for a good and busy day.
Swiss Sales Rep Giuseppe Gizzi was delighted to see the Rolling O Lab in his territory and stayed all day long at the stage of our “black beauty” to answer thousands of questions regarding the latest Oakley eyewear which had been displayed on the O Lab. Jessica Vasile came from the Italian sales side to help out while Italian tech masters Filippo Masala and Francesco Trancanelli did their best performance ever in half-hourly HDO training sessions and scope presentations. Still with a huge smile after the last presentation at 7pm both of them confessed that this event was a great success. Two charming hostess girls encouraged the visitors to take part in our little raffle to win a pair of Oakley Radar sunglasses. At 6pm the O Lab crew could compliment Miss Melanie Levensberger who happily took her new sunglasses home.
The cycling event kicked off at 12:30 with the start of the “Cancellara Challenge”, an Everyman – Race with more than 200 competitors who aimed to top Fabian Cancellara’s estimated race time. At 16:20 the first of 167 cycling professionals started at the “Parco Giani”, the 7,6 kilometer time trial course, in 1 minute intervals. The Oakley crew kept the fingers crossed especially for Mark Cavendish, Andy and Fränk Schleck and of course local hero Fabian Cancellara. After a spectacular downhill speeding in the streets of Lugano, Fabian crossed the finish line with the record of only 10min : 21 seconds and confidently won the 1st stage of the Tour de Suisse 2010.
A great day for the O Lab crew – thanks to our Italian HDO masterminds who made it to Switzerland on short notice, Jessica Vasile, Petra Peter to get us additional manpower, Giuseppe Gizzi for his passion and his constant smiling and everybody else who made this a success.
