Gran Premio d'Italia - O Lab runs Mugello

As usual the circuit of Mugello welcomed us with a brutal heat, and we could enjoy another bright and hot race weekend at the Gran Premio d’Italia from 4th – 6th June 2010.

This time we managed to get more space for Oakley right in front of the paddock entrance and Italian Sports Marketing Manager Giovanni set us up with MSL to get a huge Oakley hospitality area 50m from the Rolling O Lab. Oakley athletes Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Dovizioso, Randy de Puniet, Ben Spies and Loris Capirossi took the chance to hop in for some extended interview sessions for our media guests and checked-out the O Lab where we grabbed them for a quick photo shot!

With their usual agile HDO presentations Italian HDO masters Filippo “Machine” Masala and Francesco “Tranka” Trancanelli enlightened not just our dealers and press, but also hundreds of MotoGP enthusiasts by telling them more about Oakley’s superior eyewear technology. Thanks to the personal care of Filippo our 3 beautiful hostess girls knew exactly how to get people into the O Lab.

The drama started on Saturday afternoon at the qualifying session, when Italian hero Valentino Rossi had to retire from Sunday’s race due to a heavy crash. MotoGP fans sent their best wishes and cried to see their idol in the hospital instead of on the track. Nevertheless we could witness an exciting race on Sunday, when Oakley athlete Jorge Lorenzo took second place behind Dani Pedrosa to extend his lead in the championship, ahead of third-placed Andrea Dovizioso who gave the home crowd a podium to cheer. Casey Stoner took fourth as he beat Marco Melandri and Randy de Puniet in a last-lap dash.

A huge thank you goes to Oakley Sports Marketing Manager Giovanni Balestra, Mathias for being the general dogsbody; our O Lab driver Jan for his aim to present a spotless and shiny O Lab, Filippo for taking care of our hostess girls and the entire crew on the Rolling-O Lab.
