San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

R'n'R booth right.

Oakley rolls its way into another R ‘n’ R marathon!

This past weekend Oakley’s presence at the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon’s Health and Fitness Expo was unmatched. For the Friday and Saturday before the races tons of exhibitors gather to show the competitors as well as the public their latest and greatest in products for the runner or health aficionado. Debuting the newest in shoes to shades to the tastiest in granola bars and energy gels.

With Oakley showcasing our new women’s campaign, ‘Perform Beautifully’ along with the women’s Active eyewear collection, and the Rolling O Lab on hand, there was never a slow moment at our booth.

For eyewear sales totaling over 90 pairs and with the majority being the new women’s Forsake sunglass, I think it was a great testament to our focus of being able to provide a superior functioning piece for all sports that has a little more of a fashion side to it.

From races in Los Angeles and Seattle all the way to Chicago and Philadelphia, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon series consists of 14 races in cities all over the country. And Oakley will be at everyone! The R ‘n’ R series combines the crowd and excitement of a rock concert with an endurance event. This year ‘Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’ was the headliner at the Sea World finish line festival and the first one across that line was Richard Limo from Kenya. This was Limo’s first marathon victory coming in at a solid 2 hours 9 minutes and 56 seconds.

All in all this years San Diego R’n’R marathon seems like a success for everyone. The race was to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, with 30,000 runners in attendance and about half of them coming through the Rolling O Lab to learn how Oakley’s High Definition Optics can benefit them. There was an amazing response from the public to Oakley’s Perform Beautifully campaign as well as the enormous set up and I think it showed with the amount of glasses sold….AND…the weather was beautiful all weekend! We hope to see everyone in Seattle.

We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event so great, all the ladies from Oakley who came out to show their support and man the sales floor, as well as Mike and the crew from Nytro. We appreciate all the hard work.
