2009 Men's Health Urbanathlon
This past weekend in downtown Chicago the Rolling O LAB took part in the MEN’S HEALTH URBANATHLON. This event is a rigorous race that covers a 10.5-mile course that incorporates urban obstacles combined with a traditional running race against the backdrop of iconic city landmarks and privilege of the opportunity to climb the stairs at Soldier Field. With 5500 competitors facing the harsh Chicago elements, heavy rain and fierce wind, the event went off without a hitch.
This being the third year of this event, Oakley stepped up huge and became the official eyewear sponsor of the MEN’S HEALTH URBANATHLON. The O LAB was front and center just behind the main stage where a DJ was spinning tunes from the early morning and through all the cold wind and rain to keep people’s spirits up. Even with all the challenges from Mother Nature participants hung out following the race and were able to come to the O LAB for the Oakley HDO experience while also appreciating the warmth we provided inside.
The night before the race we were invited to attend dinner with the crew from MEN’S HEALTH and other event sponsors at the historic Shaw’s Crab House; a great way to start a fun weekend in a great city for an event that we are proud to be a part of. A special thanks to Jack Essig, Ronan Gardiner, Diane Malloy and Bill McGarry from MEN’S HEALTH and Daniella Gasaway for making all this happen, we look forward to more events like this in the future.
