Oakley and Eric Koston Celebrate at the Global Launch Event

This past week, Oakley made a special journey to Japan and debuted Eric Koston’s Signature backpacks and Limited Edition sunglass. A huge crowd consisting of some of the most prominent figures in street culture, photography and skateboarding made their way to the Harajuku O Store to celebrate the unveiling of his collection: a ballistic nylon backpack, a military inspired day pack and a pair of woodgrain Frogskins.

Tokyo’s finest came out to support the three stars of the show: Eric Koston, Keiichi Nitta and Atiba Jefferson. Both world renowned photographers, Keiichi and Atiba set the tone by combining their work for this event. Last month, Keiichi roamed the streets of LA with a VIP pass into Eric’s life. While Atiba gave Oakley access to his collection of Eric’s career on a skateboard. As an added bonus, select photos were put together for a limited edition look book that was given to those in attendance.

The sounds of classic hip-hop and funk were provided by DJ MURO, Lyntaro Wajima and Annya.

The event was a huge success to say the least. International street culture and skateboard media were out in full force to view the collection first hand and support the efforts of Oakley Headquarters and Oakley Japan. The photography of Keiichi and Atiba will be displayed at the Harajuku Oakley Store until 10/15/2009. The Signature bags and limited edition Frogskins can be found at select locations including: Harajuku Oakley Store, The Berrics.com, Commonwealth, Primitive, and In4mation. A worldwide roll-out can be expected beginning November 1st 2009, including releases at Oakley flagship stores as well at select Apple locations.
