Rolling O Lab at Indianpolis MotoGP
17 of the world’s absolute best came to Indianapolis for the 3rd year now to try and stake their claim at this historic track. The Rolling O Lab was on hand to stoke out the crowds with some HDO knowledge, and lend support to the Oakley retail garage for the weekend. Tens of thousands of fans came out to enjoy the world class racing and did they ever get a show. To everyone’s surprise, MotoGP points leader Valentino Rossi laid his Fiat Yamaha team bike down in the early laps and did not finish. In the end, two Oakley athletes stood tall on the podium, both the race winner Jorge Lorenzo of Spain and American racer Nicky Hayden. It was a thrilling race and an action packed weekend with DJ’s mixing at the Red Bull truck and Ducati Island back in full swing.
In three days, the O Lab saw over 2,000 race fans come through, not to mention the retail garage was slammed the entire time. Being a dominant motorcycle crowd, many riders had their perspective changed on eyewear, it became obvious that industrial impact protection is the only way to roll. As usual there was no shortage of celebrity sightings at the O Lab as Juan Pablo Montoya was seen stopping by with his family, as well as local news crews and personalities.
Huge crowds, tons of sales, great weather, Oakley riders taking over podium, top speeds of 200+ miles an hour…what more can you ask for? All in all, I’d say O Lab mission accomplished. However, it could not have been done without help and the crew would like to thank Scott Skelton and his retail team who killed it all weekend, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway staff and MotoGP coordinators. Also thanks to Juan Montoya and his family for coming by. We had a great time and look forward to seeing everybody again next year!
