Actor John Hensley and DJ and artist Joe Hahn (Linkin Park) hosted a special event, Celeritas, to benefit Riders for Health sponsored by Oakley. Bringing the Los Angeles area artist, entertainment, and motorcycle communities together, the Celeritas silent auction on July 11th raised $66,000 for our programs in Africa.
Guests including actor Shia LaBeouf, screen writer and producer Anthony Zuiker, and Linkin Park band members bid on the artist designed helmets, a Suzuki Hyabusa motorcycle, and motorcycle leathers.
The event, presented at Suru on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, is a gallery exhibition featuring a body of work from local renowned artists who used elements from motorcycle racing culture as their medium.
Featured artists included Barry McGee, Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda, Mark Dean Veca, Audrey Kawasaki, James Jean, Stash, Futura, Jesse James (actually Hot Dog), Jeff McMillan, Alex Pardee, Troy Lee, Usugrow, Estevan Oriol, Nathan Cabrera, and Dr. Romanelli.
All artiwork will remain on display at SURU located at 7662 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046.
Riders for Health is honored to have the support of co-hosts John Hensley and Joe Hahn along with their partners in producing this incredible event. Special thanks to the artists for donating their work and to event sponsors.
