Oakley On The Field at All-Star Week
This year’s mid summer classic took place in the number one town of America’s past time, St. Louis, Missouri. Home to the Cardinals, Busch Stadium is a beautiful place to take in the best of the best the major leagues has to offer from the Futures Game to the All-Star Game.
Sunday featured the Futures All-Star Game with over dozen players wearing Oakley eyewear including the MVP Rene Tosoni of the Minnesota Twins organization. Tosoni drove in the game-winning run for the World Team with a RBI double in the seventh inning, earning him MVP honors. This was the third year in a row that an Oakley wearing player earned the MVP honors of the Futures game.
The first day of batting practice for the MLB All-Stars was on Monday, as well as the fan favorite, Home Run Derby. On the field 22 MLB All-Stars were wearing Oakley eyewear ranging from MLB Flak Jackets to Custom Radars to Custom Flak Jackets, as well as several lifestyle pieces, including Hijinx. The Home Run Derby once again provided epic home run shots, including Oakley wearing Prince Fielder taking home the Champion trophy and the longest home run of the contest – 504’ monster shot to right center field.
MLB All-Star Week wrapped up on Tuesday with the main event, the All-Star Game. With 22 Oakley wearing All-Star players in the big game, the coverage the brand received was second to none. Stand-outs included starting pitcher and second baseman of the NL Tim Lincecum (Custom Flak Jacket) and Chase Utley (Custom Radar), plus starting right fielder and left fielder of the AL Ichiro Suzuki (Custom Radar) and Jason Bay (MLB Flak Jacket). 10 time All-Star, NY Yankees Mariano Rivera (Custom Radar) earned a record setting fourth save in an All-Star Game, pitching a perfect ninth inning.
Going into the second half of the season, Oakley has the strongest presence of any eyewear company in Major League Baseball. Look for these 22 All-Stars and hundreds of other Oakley wearing ball players to provide the most exposure of any sport over the next four months on ESPN, FOX and the MLB Network.
