First let me say….I love the south!

The Rolling O Lab A.M.G. retail tour or Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia tour started out great, on a beautiful day right across the street from the beach. Our first stop was in Biloxi, MS at Sunglass World, a great account for core local sales rep Kelly Welsh, which as far as I know, he’s called by his first and last name. For a city that still shows many signs of the devastation of Katrina, Oakley has a great presence there and the stop had a good turn out. After the event we packed up and headed out to meet Kelly and his fellow rep, Mark Szanti in Alabama.

Our next stop was at Sun Rays in Golf Shores, AL. This was a really fun stop all around. Shannon and her staff are huge Oakley fans and the stores selection of our product was very impressive. Shannon went out of her way to promote our arrival. She handed out flyers, hung posters…every where, and she also paid for a radio advertisement announcing the time and date of our event at the store as well as inviting everyone to come down and watch us blow up the competitors, names included! We had a great day with a ton of people through the lab, including local legend Bubba Blackwell. Shannon asked Bubba to come by and check out the O Lab. Bubba, who already wears Oakleys and rides for Harley Davidson has broken all of Evil Kinevils records on the exact same type of Harley. He was going to jump the Lab but there just wasn’t enough room for the ramps…next time!

After a great night at Flora-Bama, a fine eating establishment located right on the border of Florida and Alabama (just in case you weren’t sure). We were up and out early for the next stop on the tour in Orange Beach, AL to set up by the docks at Shades, one of Kelly’s accounts. Shades has is in an amazing location, literally right on the water packed full of eyewear and Guy Harvey apparel. The stop had over 60 people that came by to get educated on HDO as well as the sale of quite a few Oakleys before we left.

For our next event we met up with Dan Martin the National Accounts rep and local rep Scott Szanti in Birmingham, AL at the Robert Trent Jones Trail’s golf courses. We set up right across from the club house in a great location between 2 of their pristine courses. Dan got our event plugged on ABC news telling all of Birmingham to come take a tour through the Oakley O Lab and get educated on Oakley technology. Check it out here. With the crew wrapping up their sales and us wrapping up the tours we headed out for the next event in Georgia.

This stop for the O Lab was at the Eye Gallery in Atlanta, GA. Let me start off by saying Oakley is very well represented there, from a giant icon above the store to an entire room dedicated to our product. The first student of the Lab walked straight into the store to purchase a pair of Oakleys. Not to be his last he said. We spent the day educating on HDO and supporting the staff on sales of our plain O as well as Oakley RX. All in all quite a successful stop for HDO as well as sales.

5/12/09
For our final stop of the A.M.G. tour we rolled in to Duluth, GA to set up at Sugarloaf Eye Care, right down the road from the famous TPC at Sugarloaf. It is also the place of employment of local sales rep Scott Szanti’s wife who so kindly gave all of us eye exams in her spare time. On a different note, we were busy all day with people coming through the lab and I’d say we had about half of local law enforcement including sheriffs, SWAT, as well as a few bomb technicians and some passers by.

In the end, the A.M.G. retail tour was a very successful series of stops for the Rolling O Lab. Educating the shop employees as well as the locals and increasing Oakley plain O and RX sales for each account. It was great to be able to build more of a personal relationship with so many accounts and the accounts were all really thankful for the attention.

We really wanted to thank Captain Dan Martin, Scott, Mark, and Kelly Welsh for making these events so much fun as well as successful.
