"Beyond Limits" World Premiere

Last Saturday, Oakley opened its headquarters to the public for the world premiere of a documentary that defies the realm of possibility. Through an incredible story of determination, “Beyond Limits” challenges the audience to disregard conventional limits to pursue one’s loftiest dreams. The film chronicles Bonner Paddock’s quest to conquer the largest freestanding mountain in the world, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Bonner has limited mobility in the lower half of his body due to a lifelong battle with cerebral palsy. With zero sense of balance, he set out to tackle a seemingly impossible 19,340-foot climb to raise awareness for cerebral palsy.

Only those who set out to climb Africa’s tallest peak, only 40 percent summit. Though Bonner is the first person with Cerebral Palsy to have reached Kili’s peak, his mission is not to gain personal fame or recognition for his climb. His mission is to help children living with disabilities overcome obstacles that may seem insurmountable in their lives. Throughout the film Bonner confronts stumbling blocks that most would consider catastrophic, but his perseverance and sheer will to succeed overshadow any doubts that enter his mind. To date, Bonner has helped raise more than $300,000 to benefit children with disabilities.

All proceeds from the film will aid in fulfilling the mission of Bonner’s OM Foundation, which stands for “One Man, One Mission.” The OM Foundation plans to build 39 schools over the next five years, from L.A. to Tanzania. The first school will be in Oakley’s backyard, as the OM Foundation will team up with the United Cerebral Palsy of Orange County to build the county’s first Early Learning Center to serve children with and without disabilities.
Continually seeking to challenge the limits of possibility, Oakley is proud to support the OM Foundation as it pursues the mission to change the lives of children with disabilities by building 39 early learning centers throughout the world in the next five years.
