2009 Carolina Pro/Am
It’s that time of year again, the first Oakley Pro/Am for 2009 kicked off in rare form at the Pinehurst No. 6 under perfect skies for over a hundred smiling golfers. The forecast had called for thundershowers throughout the day, but the weather would hold off for Ty Stout and company.
For the past five years Ty and his crew of Carolina Oakley Sales have put on a fantastic golf tournament for the greater area, and for the second year in a row it took place at Pinehurst Resort.
New this year was the course location at Pinehurst, last year’s event took place on the centennial course of number eight, in 2009 we moved over to the challenging and immaculately maintained course number six. The new location made for a perfect setting with the Rolling O Lab front and center for all to see and turning many a head.
Things started cranking around 8am with pros and local ams arriving from around the greater area to check-in, receive HDO tours of the Rolling O Lab, learn about Oakley’s latest golf shoe line with Red Code, buy raffle tickets, hit range balls and catch up with friends. The field was stacked with just over a 100 players, the perfect amount for keeping a steady play of pace on No. 6.
Ty and crew had lined up Sweet Water Beer kegs on four different holes to keep all the thirsty players quenched with tasty beverages throughout their rounds. The skies stayed clear and the temperature just right for a round of golf, as everyone enjoyed a fabulous day at Pinehurst. Scores were not super low due to some serious wind at times, making the course that much more challenging, especially on the longer par 3 holes.
Rapping up the day everyone gathered for a good old southern barbeque, raffle and awards ceremony. A big thank you goes out to the Rolling O Lab Crew, Carolina Oakley Sales Team, Al Janc / Oakley Golf Program, and the all the local pros that came out to learn about the brand.
