2009 Bass Pro Spring Fishing Classic

Every year Bass Pro Shops holds their 2009 Spring Fishing Classic and Oakley was in the spotlight this year as one of their major vendors at the Rancho Cucamonga, CA location. Like typical Oakley fashion we never settle for mediocrity, so we brought in the heavy artillery by driving in the Rolling Lab manned up by Bryan Shelton and Ryan Webber, and parked it right in front of the main entrance.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting the Rancho Cucamonga, CA store yet, you don’t know what you are missing. It is positioned right off the 15 Freeway and from the highway it looks like a resort resting at around 280 square feet fully equipped to sell Tracker boats and 4×4 trucks along with a stream that runs through it stocked with trout and a massive aquarium loaded with large mouth bass and massive catfish that they use for fishing demos.

With the Rolling Lab posted up in front of the main entrance it was a sight to be seen. There were customers coming to the store just because they saw the truck sitting in the parking lot from the highway!!! Mobs of people swarmed the truck hungry to see what was inside the lab and after getting run through an optics and impact clinic they left wide eyed and ready to throw their non-Oakley glasses away. Many of the customers headed straight into Bass Pro Shops and bought a pair of Oakleys on the spot. At one point we counted 5 Oakley sunglass sales in an hour and a half!!!

The Bass Pro Shops staff was incredibly impressed by the rig as well. We were rolling employees in groups through the lab and just like the customers they left with a new-found passion for the best sunglass brand on the planet. On top of that, all the managers were already talking about wanting the lab back before the day was half done. The Rolling Lab killed it on March 7th, 2009 and this was an unforgettable day for many!
