Tom Ford, watch your back! Dani Stahl – Nylon accessories director and Lia Sophia jewelry designer – can now add sunglass maven to her resume. Stahl flew to the Newport Beach headquarters of Oakley this past December, where she spent two days in the company’s production studios designing a pair of sunglasses that will be produced and sold in a limited – edition run.

For the past several months, Stahl has penned a monthly story in Nylon called “Factory Girl,” where she learns the techniques behind a product, or replicates one to feature in the magazine. For the March issue, Stahl designed her own glasses based on Oakley’s three new shapes, made of materials like nylon and titanium, among others. “I chose, by coincidence, nylon,” she said. “It was the pair I liked the best.”

The production lines were temporarily shut down to accommodate Stahl, who created shades featuring a bright red frame, a dark-to-light red gradient lens, and an image of a safety pin etched into the corner of the glasses. In the last several months, Stahl has also collaborated with companies like Chanel, Dior, Longchamp, and Paul Frank.
