Oakley’s Biggest Fans: This Is Their Story…

Doug in Ohio:

Q: When was the Ah-Ha moment when you pledged your Oakley allegiance?

A: I’ve been a big fan of Oakley right from your inception. I had 6 different pair of Oakley sunglasses when I was in high school… but this wasn’t my Ah-Ha moment. My Ah-Ha moment was my first sight of an authorized Oakley Tactical store in Iraq. Since that particular sighting, I’ve seen at least ten (ten) different authorized Oakley Tactical shops in Iraq. (I am in Iraq currently.) Although eye protection is vital “over here” in Iraq, I do not wear Oakley over here. Please do not be offended by this. My reasoning for not wearing your eye protective gear is the fact that I don’t want to ruin them … a lot of sand in the air… my sunglasses get smashed on my IBA (Individual Body Armor)… crushed under running conditions (with all the other gear we wear)… etc. We must where eye protection in Iraq (day and NIGHT). I am posted at a small combat outpost that was nearly constructed in Oct ’08; however I have been to 8 different areas of Iraq during my three tours in the last five years. This is, also, the 10th Christmas I missed in my 22 year military career.
