Ford Championship At Doral
Nine of the world’s top 10 players converged on Miami to play the Ford Championship at Doral. There was a lot of hype created early in the tournament with Tiger and Phil Michelson looking like they may have a replay of last year’s tournament where the two of them duked it out until the very last hole of the tournament. Unfortunately Phil faded over the weekend. But as Phil was fading, a lot of Oakley athletes were charging up the leader board wearing the HALF JACKET with High Definition Optics® (HDO®) technology. David Toms made a great charge on Sunday and it looked like he might force a playoff with Tiger Woods. Tiger had a bad lie in the rough and Toms was safely on the green in two. Alas, David had the first three-putt of the week so Tiger was able to bogey the last hole and still walk away with a one-stroke victory.
Daniel Chopra was paired with Tiger in the final group and received some solid TV time. Fredrik Jacobsen was another bright spot for Oakley as he finished in a solid 4th place.
When the dust settled Oakley had 18 guys make the 70 player cut – 12 guys that wear Oakley eyewear 100% of the time in Freddy Jacobsen, Daniel Chopra, Rich Beem, John Senden, Mark Wilson, Greg Owen, Brett Quigley, Kevin Na, Brian Gay, Rocco Mediate, Jeff Brehaut and Heath Slocum. Oakley had another six that wear it between shots and on the back of their hat during shots in David Toms, Tag Ridding, Tag Ridding, Scott Verplank, Ryan Palmer and Duffy Waldorf. These guys wear Oakley because they would not trust any other brand with their careers.
The lens choice these players are going with ranges from Slate to Persimmon. The idea is to bring in as much light as possible to enhance visibility while still protection from the sun’s harmful rays, pollen, and other foreign objects.
