Boy vs. Pavement: Juliet Wins

A few years ago Scott Mikolaitis bought himself a pair of Juliet® sunglasses to accompany his foray into the world of contact lenses. This year, he handed them down to his son, Joseph, as part of the young lad’s 15th birthday celebration.

The boy was thrilled, rocking the shades – to his friends’ envy – all the time.

In July, Joseph was out on his mountain bike when the quick release failed, causing his front wheel to bust off. Ass over handlebars he went. Within seconds his face was crashing to the pavement.

“Fortunately, he was able to flag someone down, a good Samaritan who called 911. Joseph suffered lacerations and abrasions to his face. The accident required an ambulance ride and some stitches, but he pulled through without more serious damage.”

The pictures tell the story.

“You’ll notice the sunglasses took a significant amount of pavement impact, which damaged to the lens and frames. But not his eyesight, which I’m sure would have been at a risk of loss.”

Thankfully, his eyes are fine.

“I’m convinced a lesser pair of sunglasses would have shattered and I hesitate to think how that would have affected the outcome of his fall. For helping us avoid what could have been a more traumatic experience, we will always be Oakley customers.”
