For the first time ever, Oakley has enlisted the talent of a female artist to grace a limited edition of their top selling Ravishing® sunglass. The Oakley artist collaboration series Caia’s piece will join is currently made up of six pieces, all created in collaboration with male artists. Caia is the first female to join this exclusive group of artists. With the release of her new Ravishing sunglass, Oakley now offers women a work of art they can wear that has been created specifically for them, demonstrating Oakley’s attention to its female audience.
Oakley Women, the arm of Oakley that has been carving out a distinctive niche for active women around the world with a blend of sporty, sophisticated style and technology, turned to Koopman to lend her unique aesthetic sense to fit with the fashionably forward Ravishing® glasses. “We chose Caia because of her graphic approach to painting. Her strong lines, patterns, and deeply defined shapes blend well with the strong and defined approach the Oakley Woman takes in life,” stated Jennifer Bradley, Women’s Brand Director at Oakley. “Also, Caia’s innovative artistry is the perfect blend of nature and style. We are thrilled to launch this highly-anticipated piece with her.”
The polished white frame with its strong, bold curves, together with the oversized gradient lenses that embrace the latest in eyewear design, give these glasses a great look. The artwork included on the stems of the eyewear features a Mexicali image of a woman in profile, accented with a Spanish rose in her hair. This selection of Koopman’s art demonstrates how she is inspired by women and nature.
A California native, Koopman has long been involved in the skateboarding, surf and snow communities. Her “characters” have graced snowboards, skateboards and surfboards alike. A fine art major from UC Santa Cruz, Koopman turned to skateboard graphics early on in her career. Her love of the sport, along with her affinity towards snowboarding, inspired her to strive for a career creating snowboard graphics and later, allowed her to branch out to become a commercial artist. Finally, now she is a fine artist. Her artwork has been featured in numerous national and international print media, including Surfing Girl, Mademoiselle, Details, Girl’s Life, Snowboarder Magazine, Teen, Teen Style, Teen People, and others. Additionally, she has designed T-shirt graphics and promotional illustrations for companies like Quicksilver/Roxy, Hurley, Op, AT&T, and Casio.
