With every sale of this special edition HIJINX® sunglass, Oakley is honored to support a crucially important cause, MDA’s Augie’s Quest ALS Research Initiative.
Many heroes have fallen to ALS, including baseball legend Lou Gehrig. The affliction causes critical nerve cells to die, leading to widespread and devastating loss of vital muscle tissue. ALS leaves the mind generally unaffected but inexorably takes away the ability to speak, walk and do everything we take for granted. Paralysis and death may come just a few years after diagnosis.

Augie and his wife, Lynne
Oakley is honored to support this effort. With every sale of this special edition HIJINX® sunglass, we are contributing $20 to MDA’s Augie’s Quest, creating a vision of hope in the fight against ALS.
Each frame is highlighted with a custom rendition of the MDA’s Augie’s Quest logo, and a matching MICROCLEAR™ bag is included for lens cleaning and eyewear storage. We took all the music, art and life that inspires Oakley athletes, distilled it into clean and uncomplicated style, and crystallized the attitude into HIJINX®. A comfortably lightweight O MATTER® frame, it gives you the clarity of HIGH DEFINITION OPTICS® (HDO®) with patented innovations like XYZ OPTICS® for razor sharp vision at every angle of view.
This special edition is enhanced with Black IRIDIUM® lens coating for balanced light transmission in bright sun. Glare reduction is 99.9%, thanks to Oakley polarization that optimizes vision by eliminating the haze and distortion common to ordinary polarized lenses.

My Father was diagnosed with als, and dies because of it at age 45. this is a terrible disease, he went from being one of the most physically fit people i knew, to eventually being bed ridden and not being able to do simple tasks on his own. even when he new he was unable to do things he still tried with everything he had to be independent. i can say this from experience, it is the most saddening thing i will ever go through in my life. i lost my dad at age 17 to this disease and my thoughts go out to anyone who is struggling with this disease.

My best friend, fanatical hiker, brilliant lawyer, and the godfather of my son passed away 17 months ago from a type of ALS. He fought with grace and humor every day for the prior several years, knowing there was no cure. We need to change that reality for future Joes.

We lost my dad 8 years ago to ALS. He was first told 10years before that about his disease and he had 4 months. He made it 10 years, never complaing or giving up. I have not missed a ALS/MS Bike ride since his first Diagnosis hoping someday others will have a cure.
